This morning we left for a Phnom Penh orphanage to set up a mobile clinic there for the children and some of the adults. The drive from Takeo to Phnom Penh was interesting because we got to see more rural areas before we entered the city again.
The orphanage is The Summit Foundation and is a beautiful 3 story french colonial. We set up a mobile pharmacy, dental area, medical area, and mental health area. Everything went smoothly.
We will stay in PP tonight and attend the Farewell Ceremony for the entire volunteer team. As we celebrate, we will also be honouring the medical students who were amazing. CHPAA will be giving out two scholarships. For many of us, the relationships that we’ve built with the students (who are also our interpreters) have been an unexpected joy. They are fun, eager to learn, and represent the future of medicine in Cambodia.
It has been a long full week. Hearts have been broken by suffering and then renewed again through small moments of beauty, kindness, and hope.
